    Supplement/Vitamin Field

I am a newbie to this site and have thought recently of starting up an online marketing website (e-commerce, I think it can also be called).

My area of interest would be in the supplement/vitamin/health field. My target audience could be every day folks, but it may even be more geared to sports-minded individuals.

Does anyone know if this market is over-saturated?

Also, because I am rather ingorant, logistically speaking, could anyone outline a step-by-step process by which one could turn a dream like this into a reality (I'm sorry I don't have the time to go back and read all the posts that may shed light on this :-)).

    Thanks.

First thing I would suggest is to acquire knowledge on your target market, and the price range of products you wish to sell.

getting your business plan is the most important aspect to any business. Know the logistics of it, know how to order your proudcts, how to sell them and what type of marketing you will be doing.

I am currently involved with one of the best nutritional supplement company's, so if you need more information on the products etc I will be more than happy to help you.

    Hi Brian,

The market for supplement/vitamin/health field is over saturated. A simple search in Google for "supplement" would show you 82,300,000+ websites ranking for this term.

Here is what I would recommend you to beat the competition.

1- Proper keyword research (find keywords which has less competition and easy to rank for )

2- Your website should differ from your competitors, build a good credibility and a better website with real good usability that converts users.

3- Hire a professional Search Engine Optimizer for your website. Remember, a nonprofessional Search Engine Optimizer with a little experience can even get you banned from Google. For few dollars, do not go for the cheapest Search Engine Optimizer and get your website banned.

Normally, your SEO would do all the work, like competitors analysis and give you weekly or monthly reports.

    regards,
    Zafar Ahmed

I think there are many sites like this out there, but hardly any of them are any good. I order protein powder and some other things regularly online (I weight train). People usually look for the best price, but also consider the site's difficulty. If you were to dream up a simpler way of searching for items and offering a user friendly interface to your customer's, you might rise above the competition. Setting up a site like this is going to be a bit involved. I recommend you find a web designer you can communicate well with (doesn't have to be in person, but for sure by phone). I could go on and on with website tips of do's and don'ts.... let me know if I can help.

    best,

So how i read this as a 1st post is you want people from this forum to answer is this business viable then help you with a business plan step by step so that you can start this business and then you make a comment like (I'm sorry I don't have the time to go back and read all the posts that may shed light on this :-)) I am sorry to have to say in business you have to do a lot of ground work yourself and you could face a problem starting a new venture up
