Tip #1:
Never submit your website to search engines. - They will place you on a list to crawl and if they find also your site from a link and you are in the waiting list it will delay the process since it will raise a flag to verify the site before indexing.
You are better of building links and waiting for a natural crawl. It will help you gain ranks, value, and visibility faster.
Tip #2:
Always add a site map. - Even if you have 4 pages create a extra page called sitemap, contenmap, websitemap, etc ending in map. The links that you are going to place here are your pages in the order you want some to see your site. The links title will be there respective page title. In case of "home" use your main keywords.
This site map will be linked at the bottom of every page. So the crawlers never missed it.
Tip #3:
Always use relative path. - The most powerful part of your website is your internal link structure. Don't link your pages like href="woot.html" link them as href="http://www.yourdomain.com/woot.html".
This way crawlers will see the links stronger.
Tip #4:
Consolidate your Style Sheets. - Style sheets are the best way to control a website aspect. If you have more than 1 style sheet, you want to consolidate them into 1. You don't need to merge all the files, just create a global one and use import.
Tip #5:
Validate your code. - Why to validate your code? Simple, if your code contains error those errors can be parsed into the crawler and it can raise a flag and until an administrator check your listing it will not be added, crawled, or it can take longer time between crawls.
You will find so many website not valid and ranking higher. Yes, but you are down and want that position. Do what your competition is not doing.
Tip #6:
Balance you content links. - If you have a 100 words, 4 images, and 25 links witch 20 are external, you wont get enough visibility points. Balance your links. If you have 100 words limit your links to a maximum of 10.
Tip #7:
Name your files as the targeted keyword. - Lets said your keyword is buffalo wings. You want to call your buffalo_wings.html or your extension(.php, .asp, .aspx, .py). Don't use whit spaces like buffalo wings.html the white space will translate into %20% and that doesn't quite right. Your visitors wont remember buffalo%20%wings.html. No wild characters $#@!%^&*(() on your file name.
Now don't go crazy and start naming your files 100_different_flavors_of_buffalo_wings_from_bobby_ larruse.html Use something short, sweet, and meaning full. 3 to 4 words maximum and instead of white spaces use either dash or underscore.
