How simple is it to do to a site?

Google "Search Engine Optimization". There is too much to cover in one post on a forum and multiple ways to improve your position.

Well some free ways would be:
-Writing articles and submitting to article directories like (goarticles.com and ezinearticles.com)
-creating a blog and being active in the blog and commenting on other blogs in your field
-social book marking (redd it, digg.com)
-forum posts and comments
-submitting your site to search engines and online directories (use addme.com) or something like that

Here are some of the things you need to remember with regards to Search Engine Optimization (SEO):

1. On-Page Optimization - its the proper use of title tags, alt tags, keywords, meta tags, description, and h1/h2 (heading) tags.

2. Off-Page Optimization - it deals with building links. Blog commenting, social bookmarking and forum posting are just some of the methods that falls under Off-Page.

SEO is not easy and requires alot of hardwork to get a site high in search engine rankings i have a small FileHosting site that is only about 4 months old and i would be the 1st to admit its not the best looking site on the net,but i have been plugging away at SEO and adding it to digg.com twitter and many other high profile sites and on checking today i am No 26 for the keyword filehosting out of 1170000 albeit its not in the top 20 yet but with some more promotion i feel this can be done.

With that keyword riding so high on Google search this can only mean one thing more visitors and more revenue,and the beauty of it its free only a bit of had work.

Search Engine Optimization - is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a website on search engines via organic or natural search results for targeted keyword. Just make sure to do On-Page Optimization (done within your site) first then next is Off-Page Optimization (done outside your site).

SEO is divided into two namely:
