    Press Release Questions

I want to know more info about Press Releases. Is there a free or very cheap press release service? Any infomation or experience you have had with press releases would be very helpful.

    Thanks in Advanced.

Press releases are distributed via wires to the media. The two major wires are PRNewswire and Businesswire. Both of them are in the hundreds of dollars, I don't believe they are less than $400. Moreover, if you are sending out a PR on a wire, it should follow standard format and be well written, otherwise you are just wasting your money. So you may want to consider getting professional help in writing it.

You could always try services such as PRweb.com. While they may give you some minimal results from search engines, overall it is not really effective in getting media attention. I personally don't think PRweb is worth it. I have tried them on several occasions, even buying the expensive packages, and they have shown minimal results.

I appreciate it. So, get help, don't use PRweb.com, check!

So, what do you recommend then?

You can get a regional release with online distribution and a niche distribution for $210 @ businesswire.

If you want a national release it will cost around $650.

Yeah I found PRweb had little effect on real media attention as well. I even paidm for the expensive package and it was an interesting subject/niche that I was releasing about so I expected to AT LEAST get 1 email about it...but nada.

I used massmediadistribution[dot]com, and had results pouring in the same day. Definitely one to consider. (although I find that the more 'targeted' your plan is, the better - it doesn't matter if you pay more).

    Thank you,
