PageRank has to do with the number of links to your site. Period. It has nothing to do with your keywords or anything like that. So, you want to find ways to get links on your site out there. I would suggest some social media tools such as StumbleUpon and delicious.

Also, if you find some blogs that focus on your area of expertise, you can comment on some posts and you'll help your page rank (so long as the comments are NOT 'nofollow').

To check if a blog has nofollow links, highlight a commenter's link, right click and select "view selection source." if you don't see the word "no follow" in there, you're good!

    Hope I helped!

Hey Erica, how many comments on do follow blogs do you think it takes to see a noticeable difference?
A Quitter never wins, and a Winner never quits.

It really depends on the PageRank of the blog. But, if I had to give you a number, I'd aim for 1-2 a week to see some kind of an increase. If you post a few comments a week, eventually you're going to have a lot of links out there, ultimately giving you a higher page rank!

    Hope I helped!

If you post a link to your website on a blog, make sure the blog your posting on has a good page rank, and make sure it is relevant to your sites content. If the blog has a low page rank it will pull your page rank down with it, if you have lots of links which are coming from blog pages with un-relevant content then google may black-list you.

I agree with Erica 100%. You want back links and thats how you create them! Its easy to do but also easy not to do. Set time out every day to post five comments(and links) every day of the week and youll be off in no time!

PageRank is not a big deal anymore. It's lost a LOT of its weight in Google's ranking algorithm.

I've seen way too many examples of sites with very low PR beating sites with higher PR in what actually matters - search results.

If you want to improve any score, improve your TrustRank. If you get quality links from multiple domains, your PR will improve naturally anyway.

Backlinks are crucial, but overall attention to your website should be paid just as well (back end SEO - alt, H, Meta, etc.... - even though it is not counted upon for much any longer, it is good to have those gaps filled - make sure your load time are FAST, start experimenting with Google PPC, and most importantly - take part in the social media revolution!!! - there is so much you can do with it to enhance your overall brand and website appeal to users and SEs)....but in the end, content and backlinks are the most crucial when talking about PR and where you show up in searches....

Nobody knows exactly how Google PageRank works.
I oftentimes see some websites without backlinks but has a PR of 3 or 4.
If you wish to drive some traffic, some PPC or Adsense may help.

That usually happens for aged domains.

Are you kidding me? There's no mystery when it comes to Google pageranks. Generally, the higher the backlinks; the higher the PR.

Google's link: operator will only show a very, very small sample of a site's links.

    Use Yahoo's.

It is not possible to have any PageRank and not have backlinks. The number, quality, and age of backlinks is the only determination of PageRank. But PR is only a small part of Google's algorithm - they use over 400 metrics to rank sites.

Need help for increasing the page rank

In order to have a high Page Ranking you need to have more back links. Back links are Links pointing to your website from another website. The more back links you have the higher your PR will be.
Submitting your website to a directory, bookmarking your website , gaining links from related websites, joining forums,Creating a newsletter are probably the best steps you can take to increase your web presence.

Yes, I agree with Zharlene. The older your site is, the easier to be rank on SE. For me, I concentrate more on my keywords and build quality backlinks because PR will just work good after I do the rest.
