Is the exit pop-up on my website hurting my sales or helping it?

I currently have an exit-popup setup for my wholesale ebook. When somebody visits the website, it "supposedly" pops up when they're ready to leave and offers them a lower price. Do you think I should just set the price to $7.00 and remove the pop-up? My biggest concern is that the pop-up is coming up before they even get a chance to read my script. The "close" button isn't that visible which means that some people may not figure out how to close the pop-up.
