Interested in a SEO competition?

I'm not too sure how many SEO guru's we have on this forum, but I'll post this anyway. A SEO contest is an activity awarding prizes that challenges search engine optimization (SEO) practitioners to rank themselves among the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN using certain keyword(s). The webmaster forum v7n held one not too long ago with a $4,000 cash prize that you can read about here and was a massive success. If youngentrepreneur.com held this, it would be great exposure and you could get some sponsors on board. I recommend you do some Googling to find all the SEO contests that have previously been held and to see how successful they are.

What do you think? Would a SEO competition be successful? Would you participate? Any ideas?

Interesting idea, but it depends on what kind of tasks it would involve. SEO is a long-term initiative, and time consuming too.

I'd be interested in doing this, however as someone else mentioned, SEO is a long term tool. I'm not interested in doing any black hat SEO, so if this gives other challenges the opportunity to 'win' I would't be interested in participating.

I earn my living as a seo freelancer but a contest is simply a waste of my time i prefer to concentrate on projects that get me money not waste time on contests

Yea i know if you win such a contest you get recognition well i don't want recognition i got it from so many clients i\m not intrested in such contests ...
