how do u know if my site came up in search results.

is there a way to know if my site came up in search result at all (i am specifically interested in google at this time) and if it did which position / ranking it came up to.
Say i did my best to make my mysiteetc.com to be visible when someone searches the keyword "word1 word2" then it will be pain to browse through every page of result. if search result is 100000 long, how do i search or what is the effective way to go through that result to see if my site is in the result. Thanks!

Well you should know which search terms you are targeting so just type in those terms and see if you rank on the first 3 pages. If not, you have some SEO work to do.

To see if Google has even indexed your site, just type your web address into Google and see if it pulls your site up.

well, i registered with the google so it crawles with my site.
if i type in exactly my webaddress, certainly, it will come up to be first one.
but for search terms, it is not. Anyways thanks!

there is software such as webceo and ibp which would be able to do this for you. There are both free and paid versions.

Now that you know you are indeed indexed, you just need to work more on your seo efforts until you do come up for your search terms. I suggest becoming a member of a dedicated seo forum to learn all you can.

You can check your ranking with this plugin for FireFox - Rank Checker - Track Google, Yahoo! Search, & Microsoft Rankings Free

Agree with veikoh, Google Webmaster and Analytics are a must for any website. Both free and very user-friendly.

    Cheers

Thank you very much for that recommendation.

I've never come across this tool but I've heard great things about the website itself.
