I think you should try looking at 2~3 words and judge off of that. Like "free web traffic" I you will find most human's search that way. Just my opinion..

I'm on page 1 or 2 of google.co.uk for "Decorating Forum", "DIY Forum", "Plumbing Forum" and "Electrical Forum". But i still pay to be in the sponsored listings because until i'm up the top of page 1 for those it isn't good enough.

I think my website has great content, although others may disagree but i'm pretty new to the whole website business so think i could do with some seo and could improve dramatically if i could find out how to get more backlinks. Can anyone advise?

Why is that?

I use a service called squarespace that makes it easier to create websites by using set templates. The forum is just another set template. I've had a few problems with it as some people are unable to post on it at times. We are looking at creating the website from scratch in the near future and using a forum plugin.

Rankings only matter if they bring in traffic and conversions. I had a client who wanted to rank for terms that I advised didn't really matter because of the lack of traffic. After we held 8 of the top 10 for a couple of weeks and only received 20-30 visitors a day he listened and now we're focusing on more effective keywords.

We held that many positions through multiple video sites, blogs and bookmarking. It's easy to hold multiple positions in many markets when using social media effectively.

keep adding links and fresh content on website it will automatically get you better rank in google . but noone can gurantee top rank in search engine .

Yes they do...that's the only way I knew I was ranked...I am more than aware that it's not a highly searched phrase, but my point is it still worked. If you are a negative commenter, please go elsewhere, do not want to hear it. I am pretty excited and you are not bringing me down!

on Google, for my site celebrityfeuds.com i rank 2nd for the phrases "celebrity feuds" "celebrity feud" and "celebrity fights". it brings a few hundred visits a day.
