And I'm not talking about marriage here.
Engagement Advertising is something some of you may have heard. Or may not have. But in the near future I feel it's going to be a more common term. Companies have long realized that engagement with consumers is a key to effective advertising.
There are problems with the current ad models set in place all around the web. And the problem is that these current ad models are too passive. According to econsultancy.com
"a typical click-through-rate (the number of clicks versus the number of impressions) will rarely exceed 0.5%."
With this click through rate you may pay for 1,000 impressions but only get 5 clicks on your advertisement. And once these visitors reach your site, there's no guaranteeing they will navigate to a specific location of your site. That special offer or new product you want to promote may never even be seen by these 5 visitors. Therefore decreasing the value of your CPM campaign even further.
Companies are constantly trying to find new ways to connect with potential customers. And many believe that new way of connecting will be through Engagement Advertising.
"It’s a proven fact that if you can engage your prospect and get them to take some form of action you will enhance your chances of turning them into a client. Offering free information is a great way to engage a prospect. Those that take the action of acquiring your valuable information products will be ten times more likely to take the next step and engage in a personal sales appointment."
- Duct Tape Marketing
Others agree with Duct Tape Marketing and feel that any form of engagement is more effective in bringing in potential customers than the typical passive advertising.
"Online engagement is typically measured by interaction. Interaction, of any form, is not passive and there is far greater chance that the person will make a purchase or at least be able to recall the brand or product at a later date.
Whether that is watching a video, reading some information, playing a game, downloading a brochure, register for a newsletter – all interactions are more powerful than just passive consumption."

It is these ideas, and the proven fact that Consumer Engagement increases the potential for receiving a client by up to 10 times, that brought the idea of my business to light.
