Alot of things affect your Page Rank in any Search Engine, but being listed in Yahoo Directory has it benefits also. Being that they have strict guidelines for being in their directory it will mostly help you with the Search Engines, which is more important that Page Rank anyway.

Currently Yahoo's PR is 9. So it does has any pagerunk, it will affect also your website PR. According to this article

    website-promotion-costs.com/internet_promotion_articles/correlation_quantity_website_visitors_webpages_inc ome.htm

the Page Rank is not so important as the text content of the site.

No it will Not help your page rank. Depending on your niche it could be a bad ROI. I know some people that are listed on Yahoo Directory and only get a handful of visitors a month. You can get better results else where with that $300.

I've had this discussion before with clients. Over the course of a year, depending on how competitive your market is, I do think the $300 yahoo directory fee can be justified by the potential upside in terms of traffic you'll get from the yahoo directory, and the positive impact this will have on your Google pagerank.

Google values directories that are edited by humans because they can be sure of the relevance of the websites that appear in those directories.

It stands to reason that placements in directories such as DMOZ and yahoo directory would be looked upon favorably by Google.

If you take part in pay per click, and your average cost per click is, let’s say, 20 cents... You can look at it this way: If yahoo directory can directly or indirectly boost traffic by 125 clicks per month, you break even over the course of a year ($299 / 12 months / .20 cents per click).

Don't forget that yahoo Search also has a big market share, and it is likely that a directory placement in yahoo will help your SERP results there too. Between yahoo and Google SERPS, and the yahoo directory itself, I think an increase of 125 clicks per month is definitely possible, again depending on your market. If you have the budget it is worth the risk.

    Smile PR is dead

Page Rank is dead! Don't worry about it!

I am not allowed to post URLs, but if you Google - "Google Ditches PageRank in Webmaster Tools" you will find a good article on that on webpronews' website.

    Cheers

I know Technorati tag pages rank very well in Yahoo! and MSN, and to a lesser extent in Google.

Yes I agree page rank is dead

    However sneaky trick

You only have to register with yahoo once, not yearly

Also it is a factor in your search rankings

One of the factors that figure into the ranking of your website is the quality of your inbound links. Google places great importance on a link from Yahoo's directory. Though it's only one of many determining factors, being in Yahoo's directory certainly can't hurt.

Is it worth $300 a year? Only you can decide that.

I think that adding any site to the yahoo directory could be seen as a good move in terms of getting extra exposure and hence more visitors,in terms of being seen as alot of money only you can answer that one.
You have basically 2 options when you start up a new site and this mainly evolves around how much you or have not got to spend,if you have a deep pocket you can get instant results by using adwords but at a price or the other option is by SEO and this can take time and plenty of hard work but you will get results after time and the added advantage of the latter choice is its free or certainly cheaper than using adwords or the yahoo alternative.

When i 1st started out i had no idea really about promoting sites so i had to use adwords and this cost me a small fortune and with little to show as i was a total novice but then i started to find out about using SEO methods and that took time to find out what worked.

I think the best use for Yahoo Directory is as one of the best backlinks you can get. I would think one years subscription is plenty of time for it to be indexed as one. After that its up to you if you want to keep it listed there or not. The extra traffic is an added advantage.
