I receive no traffic from a lot of the directories.. You just have to find out where your customer is

Yes, only if it is revelant. Try to develop business relationships with non-competing business in the same field. Leverage these relationships by recommending each other via links and distributing each other's business cards.

Whether you are getting traffic or not it is useful to get back links. Building an online business is a process and it should be given the time it requires. Patiently submit to directories and you will definitely get links from number of directories. Don't go for paid service. Directory submission is one of the works your business needs, so don't waste so many hours. Compartmentalize your work and allot time to each and everything.

    directory submit is effective ?

    why not.
in directory submission our link is inside in specific and relevant directory submission sites so that the spider visits our website frequently to increase our page rank.

Directories have always been a tested method to acquire inbound links to websites. Google’s index now filters inbound links that ignore links from directories. Though, this is limited to the listing of the inbound link in search results, it has not undermined the SEO value of directories.

Search engines consider every inbound link as a vote cast in favour of the website. The number of inbound links is how the popularity of a website is measured. Of even greater importance is the quality and relevance of the inbound link. If an inbound link is from a website that has a high Google Page Rank, its value will be much greater than a link from a website that has a low Google Page Rank.

Basically web directory is a site where we can submit and fetch link on the basis of their categories. It's a strong medium of making backward links. A popular business directory is updated almost every minute which means one of its pages change every minute because of the submissions of various website owners like to place their link. This is one of the best advantage of getting a fast index in the Google search database.

I don't think you gain any real advantages with the big G by submitting to directories but since it doesn't hurt, why not eh? Even a little help is worth the tiny investment to have your site submitted.

It's a waste. I've done traffic blast after another. Paid someone to do some seo marketing for me. Haven't gotten squat from it. Stay true to forum posts, article marketing and blogging. Build your brand and post keyword rich content that the crawlers will pick up on. It's a little effort but once the ball get's rolling, you'll be surprised.

    Hi,

My personal opinion is it's not a good idea to go with hundreds of directories to submit your site. Just pick up couple of top most directories to submit your site. It would be better if you find directories related to your them.

yes it is effective but it will take alot of time to get accepted by mods and then google to crawl (free submissions)
you can spend your time on more valuable techniques.
yet it is not not a waste doing directory submissions but do not rely on it.

Certainly add your website to the directories but this is only a small step in increasing your seo score. You need to use various different forms of Sem in order to gain good rankings. Use article marketing, place your keywords in your signature on the forum linking to your website. Also build backlinks from high PR sites.
