What to learn to develop a major startup?

I've started several startups with common html and image editing knowledge. What i'm wondering is, what kind of scripting languages is neccessary to learn to develop a major startup. For instance, the creators of facebook, twitter, google all designed their models before obtaining venture capital. So tell me what I have to learn in the next few years that would avoid hiring freelancers.

php. that is the language you must learn. u r already good at html/css. s0, learning css wont be difficult.

Most of the web is based on php. I prefer php and perl, as opposed to MS only asp and .net. Easier to put both on either linux or windows servers.

ok cool. I have soo many great startup ideas, it's just too expensive to hire coders. I feel this is the best way to get models up to obtain venture capital. I'll do some searches, let me know if you have any good interactive tutorials. Thanks
