    Programming Apps On Cell Phones

    Hi guys,

Just out of curiosity, how hard is it to program on apps on cell phones. It would be something simple like pages of texts and the user would be able to click on some texts on the page. I have a business idea that would require that but am not sure how hard that would be or how easy it is to program for different phone OSs.

Thanks for any help that you could help me with.

    Cheers!

Google is set to likely unveil an open platform for application development on mobile phones within the next 24 hours. This should help break through some of the OS and application development exclusiveness that has applied to many phone platforms by providing some standardisation across a number of up and coming phones. If you're looking for a head start I'd recommend looking into this a bit further.

From a beginner it is very hard.

In nokia series you must know how to use symbian c++ and I think SE (sony ericsson) too.

Or in some mobile phones (old units )java will do also.

    Thanks guys,

I guess most phones will still work with java... A question though, would going to guru.com be a good place to look for people with these expertise?

By the way, thanks kihtmaine, I am looking into google right now.

    Cheers.

    Hello Dafung,

Well, kihtmaine has already summarized the crux of mobile development. It depends what kind of cell phones are you targeting. For mobiles with Symbiam Operating system (Smartphones.....Nokias and similar ones) you need to know Symbian and cool C++ programming. For Windows based cell phones like O2, HP and similar ones you need to know Visual Studio (eVC++, VB, C# etc).

Also, it depends what are you trying to create? Just some website kind of application which just uses the browser or some application that has its own installable files. The cell phone is small but the cell phone development area is very wide. Everyday applications are being launched for cell phones.

    Cheers.
