    Is bandwidth too expensive?

    Hi all,

Ok, so for my second post here I have another question... I'm having a website designed for me that is going to be VERY video intensive. Not a video sharing site like youtube, but rather a self-broadcasting site (no, not porn). I'm looking to start with at least 150 people broadcasting themselves at a time, for 30 minutes each at 700kbps to 10 viewers at a time. So, with 150 broadcasts and 10 viewers each, that's 1,500 streams outbound at 700kbps. I'll be charging the broadcasters between $150 and $200 (which I'm pretty sure they'll pay), per half hour of streaming. Peak hours will be between noon and 4PM. If those 4 hours are broken up into 30 minute blocks, at $200 per block times 8 half hour blocks, that's 8 x $200 x 150 = $240,000 for the 4 hour period. Is that going to be enough to cover the cost of the bandwidth that will be required to run all of this? Or is the bandwidth going to be too expensive? By the way, yes $200 per half hour seems a ridiculous price... I wouldn't have even brought it up if I didn't have very good reason to think that they would pay it. I'm really just looking to see how much that amount of bandwidth might cost me. It's just not something that I currently know too much about... Thanks for any responses... Even if you just respond to tell me I'm an idiot for thinking I can charge that much for a half hour of broadcast time...

    :-)

Nope I have 10 TB (10,000 GB) I'm doing 100,000 pageviews per day and pay nothing more than $200 a month for it.

You can get an unmetered 10 meg pipe for $100 a month now, it's fine.
