Well I have a server up and running. I am using linux server. I already bought the domain names. I had seen a website from the linux team that they are giving out free domain names but it's not a secure thing meaning it can at times lose connection.
Yes to save a dns record its about 1 kb per domain name. That's what those companies are charging you so they can store a 1 kb file for you just so people can use a name instead of an ip address. Yes these companies are hosting millions and millions becuse their are more than one person buying domains.
I look at is as a crooked business. Just having a company host a name for you and charge you an arm and a leg for it.
Right now I have a 1.7gig bandwidth. Right now I am in the proccess on making my own website.
The reason I am looking for cheap dedicated lines is to be prepaired if the traffic to my website increases so I can adjust the requirments quickly.
I just ran a bandwidth check and got 3.85 megabits per sec
I have 4 computers right now and a router. So the bandwidth gets divided.
