    hard drive

    HI,

This is the it section so i would like to ask if it is possible to convert an internal PC IDE hard-drive into an external one. which can be 'portable', connected/disconnected to different pc's via USB/serial etc...

If so would you have to buy additional 'kits' or are there DIY guides available?

yeah you can. try ebay or your local pc shop or one of the big online pc stores. your looking for an external 3.5" hdd enclosure. Note that it will require external power aswell. its notebook hdd (2.5") that dont require external power

Try this link: Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 External Drive Kit

Belkin make good stuff, and by being a USB based enclosure it's self powering (or is meant to be), you don't have to worry about people having eSATA or something.
