I hate AVG. You need to update it almost everyday. Spybot is better

Mcafee and Norton are the best and you shouldn't run a business from your computer without one of these. Yes you have to pay for them, but why risk losing everything? Especially if you are running a business from your pc.

There are ways around things to get them for free or a huge discount.

For instance, if you have comcast you can get a complete Mcafee virus scan package for FREE. This package retails for over 120 dollars and you get it for free. Cant go wrong there.
Norton on the other hand always offers deals to affiliates. Go to a website that is promoting Norton as an affliate and you will get a great deal one a year's subscription.

DONT OPERATE A BUINESS ON YOUR PC WITHOUT A PROPER VIRUS SCAN/PROTECTOR, IT'S NOT SMART.
I agree with dfveteran. It is understandable that most people on a tight budget would find it logical to go for what's free if such is available. But as a lot of the other users in this thread said, most free software come with annoying pop-ups and don't protect you 100%.

I personally use Trend-Micro. It runs on the background, barely consumes power, and, in turn, gives me tranquility. They usually cost around $100/yr, and to me, if that means the risk of getting into viral/spyware problems lessens, $100 is cheap.

    That's my 10 cents.
You will get what you want if you know what you want.

It seems that these 'FREE' anti-virus programs all have limits, or pop-ups or other annoying things that try to get you to 'buy' the paid version.

OK, I might consider paying for it, but if the 'free' version will take care of my anti-virus, malware and trojan protection, then, hey, I could deal with the nuisance of pop-ups.

I've read on some forums, that there are some viruses or trojans that promote certain bogus anti-virus software, so I think I would be best off using something from a company that is a public company if possible since a public company would probably have a more legitimate product and they would some accountability.

As far as I can tell Cyberdefener is the only public one of the 'FREE' anti-virus programs, and I think has more features then some of the others i've seen.

Can anyone give me feedback on Cyberdefender?

Am I wrong to only want to go with a public company?

Can anyone recommend some other anti-virus softwares that are as good as Cyberdefender (and free) that I should look into?

Thanks for your help - I appreciate it!
For a free software I would got with Avast!

I installed Cyberdefender a couple of months ago, and really like it. The free version had some annoying pop-ups, so I decided to get the $24 upgrade. I have been very happy with it.

I have not had any problems/viruses since it was installed on my computer, but it cleared a few malware that tried to infect my system. That's pretty cool, as far as I'm concerned.

I hope this helps you out.

Good to hear that! for me, I had it with McAfee as well as Norton (system resource hungry AV). Sooner or later you will encounter problems with McAfee and their tech support is much worse.

I dont recommend free internet security software suites as it does not cover all aspects of protection however I use to be a computer repair technichian and repair and always installed AVG Antivirus Free.

This is the best application available and reviews are everywhere on how good it is from Pc Magazine to Cnet.com "download.com".

If you want free, Get AVG Antivirus.

"I hate AVG. You need to update it almost everyday. Spybot is better"

This is good! That means it is always kept up to date and installs the latest protections.

Hackers develop new methods every hour and if you have a antivirus security software that has not been updated in a while you have a big potential for being hacked.
