    Beginner's Question For Webpage Design

I was asked today by someone I know to help her with her Business website. She runs a pretty large real estate company and she needs her website to be updated and looking more professional. I am now trying to figure out the best way to do that. I do not know how to write script or anything so I'm not even sure if I will be able to do it. I guess I would just like advice on how to spice up a basic website to look more professional and if there was a program that would allow me to easily edit things without having to use code or anything I wouldn't really know how to do. I have messed around with a few websites before but I am worried that I either won't be able to produce what she is looking for. Any help would be great. I have a deadline of Sep. 24th

    Thanks,

    -Robert

EDIT: All I could really think of is changing the layout, and even doing that would be hard because I do not know too much about it all and I don't want to mess up what she already has up. I will only be doing the design, she will do all content even though the content is already there.

    Hi Robert,

there are programs like wordpress or Joomla that you can use to build the site.

However you may still need help in getting the templates done nicely. I suggest that you hire a developer to do so. I believe if your client is running a big company then she would have a budget for it. Remember to include your fee too.

Content wise, you need to play around with it more and you'll get the hang of it sooner or later.

Believe in sharing your wealth, you'll be surprised how much you will get back later on..

I am not building a site, the site is built with content...I am just being asked to change it up to make it look better and more professional.

My mentor once advice me because i had too many things on my plate.

If you need to find someone to do it for you. Go find that person. Nvm if you lose a bit of money or take less revenue but get the job done because if its done well, the client will look for you again in the future.

    So outsource your work.

And the good thing about outsourcing is that you don't even need to know how to do it and yet get paid.

Anyone out there willing to help this guy out?

Well, it's sort of a weird situation because I am working for her just doing anything she needs done. I don't (or atleast right now) plan on doing this in the future. I feel confident I can design a layout that will make it look better, the thing is, I don't know any code stuff and I have never really designed a website. So actually taking my ideas from paper to the website would be what I need help with.

I see. the truth doesn't hurt. Be honest with your employer and she will appreciate it. Focusing on something which you are not good at can waste your time and hers. Just tell her that you might need someone else temporarily to do your coding work.

why this indian people are soo busy to bother to shamelessly advertising the service they offer.

get rid of this! ive seen a lot of this thing almost everywhere. i know your service is cheap but the person is not asking you for a shameless self-promotion.

the person is asking for an advice. so give him an advice okay! list down something. BE GENUINE!!!! then put a nice ads at your signature. if we are interested, we will click it.

    hurh!

You don’t need to make major changes on a website to improve it , if the webpage is very cluttered it would help if you removed some of the fluff, keep it simple and just make it easier to navigate to can do wonders for customers.

Also when you write content, make sure the content is written for your target market.

I will address any questions or anything you all said later, but I gotta find out as soon as i can if I can download a program, free or not, that I can use to edit my current website? I do not want to delete anything it has already, I strictly want to edit and don't want to have to start a new one.

    Hey Rob,

I am a professional website designer and my team and I could help you out. To make a website look "more professional" it depends on what the website looks like now. A link would be nice.

Overall, I would recommend removing anything you don't need. A great website is one that has as much removed as possible while still being productive i.e. google.

Also, the quality of your graphics can make a huge difference as well.

And the navigation. I would recommend looking into some of those.

If you need any help, feel free to e-mail me.
    Regards,

for a professional design type website. whats most important is the flow of information.

unless that you are a creative company that need an out of the box navigation.
