What's the most basic form of Programming?

I would like to learn how to do build database driven websites the right way and would like to ask you experts out there where should I begin. I would just like to know where to start. At this point everything seems too confusing, there seems to be so many to learn: ASP, C++, Cold Fusion, Java, PHP, Perl, SQL, XML and plenty more as you all know.
Is there a certain order that I should start with? Some advice on this would really help and I would certainly appreciate all of your input.

I know that taking some classes at the local college is an option, but I simply can't do that at this time, I need to do it on my own.

Thanks in advance

Carlos

Reading a lot of books on the basics or actually going to school for it is the best way. Coding takes a lot of skill and can take years before you're any good at it.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks Greg, just to clarify, I'm not looking for a quick fix, or an overnight solution, I'm just looking for a starting point.... Surely, everyone started somewhere.....

Start with HTML just for fun to see whether you like programming anyway...it's easy and almost anyone can pick it up after just 2 weeks! C++ takes years to learn correctly!

It depends what kind of programs you want to write and where to make your career. Microsoft .NET environment is mainly used inside corporations. php has been becoming internet platform programming language for open source. C++, Java, J2ME is low level programming languages for the applications to devices. SQL, XML are database languages. You can start with HTML, XHTML, XSLT, etc which are languages to represent data in browsers.

To OneWayUp: Photoshop and Flash are not website programming languages. I do not understand at all why we need all websites to be done using Flash? This won't be much user and Search Engine Optimization friendly. Flash is OK for your logo but not for the database driven website.
