lol i always use SMF simply cos there free and im always skint.

but if i had the money i would use Vbulletin. But wouldnt use PHP, iv used that before and me and the controll panel didnt get on

I like vbulliten Pc gaming forums the best. Mostly first person shooter forums. The best hypocritical and most ignorant posts are found there. You know, people that think they know it all. Always good for a good laugh or two

What is the advantage/disadvantage of using VBul. or SMF?

Im stuck between the two, i like them both. Do SMF's have signatures?

I use to like PHPbb best... but now SMF is the better one.

Woodcs82 yeah you can have signatures on SMF. SMF is free... VBul. is not... thats the huge difference.

I was using mybb but I have changed over SMF. There are 2 reasons I changed over to SMF. It seemed like there was much more support for the program and it also intergrates with Joomla very nicely if you have the right bridge.

I used SMF a lot because of the CMS integration, but now mambo has it's own board, so I use that.

As far as operating my own forum, SMF is my favorite because it's user-friendly and FREE. Vbulletin is my favorite kind of forum to be active in, I guess because it's what I'm used to. Hope that makes sense.
