Exclamation How To Develop A Search Engine?

I want to know how to start a search engine, primarily like yahoo or MSN. What are the requirements for a world wide web search engine. I researched the subject but found little that goes to the technical level.

Thanks

Give up, firstly you'll have millions of competition. Secondly, if Microsoft is willing to buy Yahoo for billions just so it could gain a smaller portion of the search-engine industry; what makes you think you will profit?

A search engine at it's most basic level indexes web pages from around the world and then uses an algorithm to deliver the most relevant results to users.
If you actually want to make your own search engine, you should probably get a degree in computer science, as creating a good algorithm is the hardest part. Plus you would already know the technical details required.

Unless you had some great ideas, a new concept, or a better, faster search engine, you may want to try something else.

I have some ideas, but I am looking for something that teaches the basics or explains the process clearly.

If you don't know the basics now it will be nearly impossible to get better than google or any search engine. The algorithm does more in a second than my brain could handle in a year. Search algorithms are extremely complex and simply baffle me.

I have a degree in computer programming and wouldn't ever even think about trying to build one.

Our site, Gatepedia.com, due to launch soon is in the same line, but will be even better.

So, if you have money, and you know what you want, you don't need to go to school to learn how to program, just hire the right web development company to do it for you. You hire the team, they do it for you and maintain it for you and when you make enough money, hire your own staff.

As long as you know what you want your site to do, they can do it for you. Our web design team can code and program in any language for anything you want, plus they very reasonable, they can match any quote.

let me know if you're interested and I can PM you a link to their portfolio with a quote.
