thanks matt that makes sense... I will look into that. I ask this becuse I am somewhat lost on what I might get into. I am going to college to make money not to do a job I love, I would do that as a hobby. I have html, php, javascript, and c++ skills and a little python, and I also have some skills in computer hardware. So my dad suggested to go for accounting becuse he know alot of people that have a bach in accounting and they making more than 80,000 a year. So that's why I am taking accounting classes currently in college.

I bealive that you go to college to get a job that pays not so much as a job you would be interested in. I think that if you wanted to work in a business you love then you can open your own once you make enough money from the job you got after college.

Thanks for the input, I will look into it.

I have, going on 5 years now, of IT experience. I could easily write my CCNA, Security+ and the counterparts and earn them with ease. No, I am not bragging or anything but my point being is that I have yet to do so. Why? Well, as Matt mentioned there is a huge associative group of people with these certs, with perhaps high employment rates but only earning $10/hr. Like Matt has mentioned, try and single yourself out from all these cert holding individuals. Even go as far as getting experience by donating your time to various non-profit orgs, churchs and even your mothers boss to get some 'IT experience'. Employers will see this as 'initiative' to learn your role in an IT environment. As per your programming certifications and this expertrating certification - it is all garbage. Programming is essentially an art - anyone can slap paint on a board but what sets an artist from an amateur is the beauty of the painting. The same can be said for a programmer, web designer ..etc. I can run Photoshop CS2, make a banner and various web graphics but I do not call myself a graphic designer.

So try and set yourself aside from these large groups, get experience and try and get your foot in the door. Once you have your foot in the door, the certs will mean nothing and you can work your way up the rank from there.

Good luck.
