Best program to build a website - Page 2

I started without knowing much code. I have a mediocre understanding now. I use Dreamweaver for my sites. If you are looking for a shopping cart you might benefit from checking out Yahoo shopping cart. It may be easier for you to put together than Zen.

I can tell you what not to use, SBI!, Site build it!, Sitesell or whatever they call it today. I thought it was terrible. I spent 4 months trying to get a site going with it after a 10 day tutorial and have had no luck. NOTE: I don't need any SBI bozos telling me what an idiot I am for not liking their crappy looking websites(yes they all admit their sites are crappy looking). Sorry, I'm looking for a non-crappy looking website, thank you very much.

Right now I'm using Homestead because that's what a friend has used and it is going pretty well for me.

I downloaded the Dreamweaver free trial but can't figure out how to use it.

I'm sorry you didn't like it, but I use SBI (aka Site Build It) and I love it. I'm going very well with it. Just goes to show, everybody's different and it's not for everyone. Also want to meantion that SBI's really for building an outline business, not just website, though.

Ken told you idiots to stay in your cage, remember. You've all been going around the internet pissing people off and now you're on everyone's hit list. That's exactly why I post anywhere it comes up not to use SBI! It was nice being unnoticed, I bet.

Case in point. I even told the bozos not to come in here and give their sales pitch. What happens? One of Ken's legion of affiliate salesmen storms in, registers, and makes one post to defend SBI's honor. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

There is only one kind of site that SBI! is really any good for, and that is your first of a thousand little b.s. websites about trimming dog toenails, or chocolate chip cookie recipes, or some other crap you came up with just because it was a good keyword and you hope to generate $25-50/month in ad revenue from it. The reason it is only good for the first one is because it will SORT OF walk you through the process, after that you need to go a less expensive route and learn how to make your own websites. You can't pay that much for websites of that sort, it isn't profitable. And don't say I'm wrong or I'll post a list of their stupid domains.

It is absolutely no good for anyone who wants a sharp looking website. It will allow you to build a website in Dreamweaver or elsewhere and import the code, but if you are doing that why on Earth would you be using SBI! instead of going to Godaddy or someone who hosts for 20% of the price?

I certainly respect your opinion, Bugman, and I was just giving mine. I'm not here in an affiliate capacity and I was telling the truth from my experience. I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone.

I make way more than $25-$50 a month from my SBI site.

It doesn't sound like something you need, though. Your needs are probably different. That's okay!

Dreamweaver has to be the first choice as it gives you the freedom to create pages in any grid and also lets you understand the code behind it. It will assist a non-programmer like me to learn and work at the same time. You can also try Microsoft Word/BlueFish to edit your page on your computer and then upload the page using an FTP client, like WinSCP, or the web client to the webserver.

If you dont want to deal with coding, and want to build a site using html, with a drag and drop style interface, but still get professional results, you should try WebPage Maker. There is the download around, for the trial. Check it out, its only for PCs, but if you like it you might want to get the normal version or just grab a serial crack. I used it before I began to understand html.

dreamweaver is a tool to create a website of course. if you really want to setup a website, i think its good if you start with something that is easy. start with a wordpress platform. then choose a right theme for your website. from there, setup a contact form (contact form 7 plugin rec) from there if u r interested in ecommerce, make a research on ecommerce plugin and choose which one right for you. if you need help in setting up wordpress. feel free to ask for may assistance. its free. even if you want me to customly design your site. its a pleasure.
