Who should own blog site?

I am planning to venture into blogging.

Question1:Do bloggers own their websites directly or through a limited company which they have established?

Question2:I want the blog site to be a web property owned by my limited company so that the revenue goes to my company. I want to do this to limit my liability in case there is a problem in future. Would there be any inconveniences with this approach?

I appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

I would consider doing some research on licensing your domain name to your limited company. I have found that it is often suggested that you register trademarks under your personal name and licensing them to your company. This way if something were to happen and legal action was taken on your company you would have the chance to retain ownership of the name. I am not sure but it may be possible to set up a similar situation with your domain name. Check it out and definitely consult a lawyer if you think this particular structure is a possibility.

Jeremydelane,

Thank you for the feedback. You raised an interesting point.
I will need to research further on that.
I was more concerned that if there was an issue with the content on the blog ( like intellectual property, copyrights, etc), then my personal assets would be liable and having it owned by my limited company would reduce my personal liability. I could be wrong, but let us see.

Blogs are fairly easy to pick up and get on with - I wouldnt get bogged down in the detail too much I would just get on with it and improve this as you go.

I agree with frenchiexno1- your chances of facing legal action that goes all the way to court by having a blog are really low. Just start the blog, and business, and then if you begin making decent money with it, you can worry about forming an LLC, etc. at that point.

Yeah I agree with both of these posts. Start a blog and business, and see where it leads you!

Right I totally agree, I personally would just go for it. The quicker you get things rolling, the quicker you can start generating traffic. I was only trying to answer what I understood as the question. Typically I would not worry to much about being sued as a blogger, although I suppose the it is very possible these days. However it is something to take into consideration if you are concerned with the rights to the blog name and so on.
