When to trademark

Should you trademark a brand before you launch a business or after launch? To protect or not protect?

I have a business idea/brand name that I do not want taken. Do I trademark a unproven name and use potential start up money? Or do I trademark first and protect myself because I feel it's a strong idea. Thanks!

The last thing you want to do is spend money on your business only to find that somebody has trademarked your name and swooped it up from underneath you. If you're serious about your business idea, get this done asap.

Trademark it first

If you have any faith in your business, which I have a strong inclination you do, trademarking your business should be the first thing you do.

The legal aspect of a business is sooooooo boring, but vital!!
