Hi,
I think you should look at this another way. You should ask yourself 'what do i enjoy doing or what would i enjoy doing that i can also make money from?'. The reason i say this is if you only want to enter a business to make money your heart wont be in it and the follow on in most cases is failure.
Sit down and brainstorm, research each idea that you come up with, see where your markets are and then plan.
When you come up with some ideas post back here i'd like to hear why you chose the and what one you wish to pursue.

That's the best way to decide IMO. How you spend your money on marketing depends on the niche you eventually choose

I'll play devils advocate:
You're 16, you have your whole future ahead of you. You're going to do several different things over the years before you FIND THAT ONE THING!
Personally, doing what you love is overated IMO. I'll sell shit on a stick if there's enough money in it.

Kaydence-
What kind of skills do you have? It's such a broad question. I know I answered this post somewhere else. Asking people what to do with $300 is like asking someone to row your boat for you.
There are people who has asked others how to wisely use their $10,000 or even $30,000. They didn't get answers either. No one will give you pertinent answers for $300 dollars.
The best thing for you to do at 16 is educate yourself. Get a regular job and experience things. People don't sit around asking how to lead their lives. They figure things out through a wide range of experiences and that's how they know what to do with their money later.
I'll tell you what I was doing at 15 years old. I was folding t-shirts for a guy who owned a swap meet store. Every Saturday and Sunday I folded t-shirts in his store under the heat for $40 per weekend.
I not only learned the GAP way of folding t-shirts which I still do when I fold my laundry-but I learned simple retailing trades. HOW TO MAKE MONEY from WHOLESALE TO RETAIL.
Why am I telling you this? Because even with the power of the internet and the tremendous wealth of information in it-your best education can come from the streets. However, it is up to you to take matters into your own hands and not "beg" for people's advice regarding what to do with your $300.

This has to depend on your personality. Some works well with their passion and some works well with anything as long as they can make money.
You are 16 and still young, just think something out and try it. The more you try, the higher chances that you will find a niche market that suit you. The most important advice i can give is : NEVER GIVE UP!

Youre still young, so what?
The point is to try. See a need, fill a need. sell candy. Design your own shirts and sell them. Use your youth to gain experience.

I personally think that you don't exactly need to love what you are doing to make money, but if you don't like what you are doing you are going to come home everyday just be sad. IMO, the whole point of entrepreneurship is to take something you love and find a way to make money from it and enjoy it.
Plus as someone else said, if you don't enjoy what you are doing, you will not put as much effort into it and it will at best become a mediocre business if not fail=/

You can always start a lemonade stand. I guess it comes down to how hard you are willing to work.
