    Website Template/Design

I am looking to build a very simple website - a few pictures, a few links, a few forums. I have no website design experience whatsoever. Does anyone know of a free service to use to create a high-quality, though simple, website? Thanks, all.

I'm a huge fan of Drupal, the free and open source management tool. Take a peek at what its like to use it: http://drupal.neemtree.com.au, and ping me if you need pointers to installation etc (mostly on http://drupal.org --> support --> handbooks).

It'll give you - point and click menu configuration, image handling, and forums (and ideas on how to use its other neat features).

    Hi Jonathan!

I know you are looking for a free of charge service, but I want to recommend you this company thenetmencorp.com because you can get great package deals and all you have to do is relax and wait for them to deliver you the final artwork....which does not take them too much time.

Besides, you can get as many revisions as you may need until you are happy with the results. I have used their services and I don't regret spending little money on them.

    Good luck!

Drupal is good. You might also check with your web domain host to see if they have a site design system in place. Some offer a free content management system that will have a 1-click install and a very friendly user interface.

I like Joomla more than drupal. The number of templates available is huge.

But the guy asked for a "service" that allows him to make websites easily, not a content management system.

For the "a few pictures, a few links" kida site, see
    google page creator
or any other online webste builder

I haven't seeen any builder that allows you to set up a forum as a part of the site.

But there ar some sites which will hosta forum for you which in turn you can link from your site as the official plce to discuss for your site users.
    Search for "free hosted forums"

I agree with Neon, templatemonster.com has some great templates. I know your looking for "free" but I suggest you take a look at what they have, to at least get an idea. Also do you have Microsoft Frontpage? or Dreamweaver? Most of the templates they have you can edit with those 2.

To be brutally honest you can't really make a good website for free now a days. I suggest you look at templatemonster.com and possibly get a few custom quotes if you don't see what you want and then look at a few free content managent systems, either way, you're going to end up paying for intergration of the design and domain registration/hosting.

    Drupal is a winner

As a winner of this year's best overall CMS award, and a number of other reasons, I think Drupal is a winner in any CMS/bloggie debate. But lets not hijack Jonathan's thread.

All the best on your project, let us know how it goes.

Quality and cheap don't mesh together. You get either or. You can get a templated website from templatemonster.com but chances are, your competitor might have exact same template too
