Want to resell under my own name (rebrand?)

I am looking to start up a company that does not manufacture it's own products. I want to go to a manufacturer and ask them if I can sell their product but put it under my own name. Like selling the pepsi product (same everything but name) and renaming it BOB SODA. I know this happens, how is it done?

My goal is to build a branded company that serves a particular niche with a particular kind of product (that includes many different types of individual products).

I hope that makes sense. Help please!

It's called private labeling, as yes it is done in almost every industry. I don't really understand your question, how is it done?
It's done by making an agreement with the person who owns the rights to the product.

I currently do this in my business and have done it before in others I have owned. It is pretty simple if you have a willing manufacturer. I am sure you already know in your mind what you want to private label or OEM. Simply find the manufacturers of the products and give them a call. If you are trying to do something from a very large company, I wish you a lot of luck if you are just starting out without a good business plan and a lot of funding. But... if you are want to create your own brand and simply buy a product from an existing manufacturer that may be smaller, overseas or eager to obtain new business, than it should not be that hard.

Most companies already do this on small and large scales so it is nothing new at all.

Just give them a call and find out the first step in getting OEM or private label pricing and then go from there.

try searching google for a "private label manufacturer" for whatever industry or product that you're planning to brand. You can also try ThomasNet.com or MacRaesBlueBook.com They're directories of manufacturers for just about every industry out there. Don't forget how you plan to label your product, as you'll have to supply whatever branding material you plan to insert, to the contractor for producton. I started out using a contractor until i built the company up enough to develop my own in house manufacturing, so i know it's very possible to accomplish. At one point i even had my own line of tanning lotions, so there's proof that no matter what you want to produce, there's a private label contractor out there for you..

best of luck.
