Using A Student Loan To Start Business...

What is your opinion on using a student loan to start a business. ? Wouldnt it be easier than getting a bank loan?

I've heard of it being done. One thing to consider, aside from its illegality, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that student loan debts are dischargable in bankruptcy. That's an important thing to consider.

I was going to do it but jsauanders said it was illegal, is there any chance of getting caught? Also, do the loans incur interest while you are in schooL?

Yes, it is illegal, but again, I'm sure that it has been done. And for good reason. A student loan is the cheapest source of money you will ever find. I wish that I had been maxing out my student loans from the first day that I went to college.

Whether the loans incur interest while you are in school depends on the loan. Subsidized, no. Unsubsidized, yes.

Not discharged at bankruptcy. Interest accumulation is dependent on the type as Jonathan said. Most private student loans do accumulate interest before graduation and private student loans are almost always adjustable.
