Thumbs down The THING that makes starters lag...

I'm 17, full of ideas like a lot of other people here, and the thing is once u do have a good business plan and u CAN make it happen u get all excited, cause u get a clear vision in your head how big the site could be.

I'm really about websites myself, not too much into all this ''MLM/SEO'' that stuff, basically i'm about the actual idea making and promoting it.

Thing is, if i don't do it FAST i'm gonna either re-think the whole idea and realize that it's not gonna be that easy..

but it really shouldn't be like that, the reason i'm saying that is because a lot of times with a lot of my ideas i feel like i'm being restricted cause i don't have any coding/scripting knowledge and i'm afraid to hire someone to make a custom script for me.

Although i do know in the back of my mind that IF I WANT IT, I CAN DO IT. But the coding/script part is really restricting me from making moves right now

Hope someone could maybe help me out or had the same experience..especially on the scripting part, i don't want to depend on the script guy and be afraid he's gonna steal my idea and start his own website if i do actually hire someone.

    any suggestions?

Im in the same position as you.. I just turned 18 and have an idea I think could be quite successful. I do not have coding experience and do not have enough money to outsource the project. It feels like you've kit a dead end but what I suggest is that if website design is what you love to do expand your own knowledge. If you love creating online ideas get a .php or .html etc.. course! Im sure there are evening or weekend courses near you in colleges or something. Plus the internet is a big bucket of wisdom, I learnt how to do a lot of things from the internet!

As with the re-thinking of the idea I have the same problem. I just posted a thread about it and was given really good advice. Just go for it, the first run son't ever be perfect but you just have to get it out there. Facebook was appalling when it first came out! Have you seen the first beta Facebook layout and Google logo? They looked awful! But look at them now.

I believe I saw someone post earlier toda,y about being a web person who wanted to do some pro bono work to get their expertise up to par for future profiting. You guys might want to check with them. I just bought a few books on coding so i'm going to teach myself. And the fact my girlfriend is a very successful website design/coder doesn't hurt either

    Dreamweaver works.
Some say the coding is terrible, but it works.

Hi guys, thanks for the comments

i think actually learning how to code/script will take a lot of time i can and should be spending on other things business related, the beauty of business is that u can let other people do work for u, but u own the idea(website) and make the money.

the only thing for me is to actually make a move and find a good script guy who is reliable, wont steal ideas, just a good partner.

How many script guys did Youtube start with? always wondered that

and does anyone have any info on possible price ranges? on what these people charge?

I think im cluttering myself with all these bad-case scenario's and that things just WON'T work out, cause a lot of times things seem to good to be true, but its even more stupid to not make a move at all..

so im kinda lookin around right now, really looking for more information on prices and WHO i should hire for certain things i need done.

what are these script/code guys named on freelance websites? just ''coders''? or do i need to look under ''Javascript/CMS etc.''

hope to hear back from u guys!

You could work with tight NDAs. This does restrict you to better known companies, who have been around for a while. Otherwise, who are you going to press charges against?

But the best thing is to find someone who you can trust to code for you, and make them partner in the business. That way you secure your continuity.

    Anyone here interested in webhosting?
I want to start a big forum, one like this one.
I install my own scripts, setup databases, but don't have cash
on me. Who want to fund me, or go into business with me?

I need $150-200 US in paypal or alertpay

Or we can do it step by step, investor/capital partner provide cash to each stuff 1 at a time....
    PM for more details...

The best advice I can give you from what you said is to NEVER be scared of your ideas. Cautious and thorough, yes, but you can never be successful if you are afraid to start. You have to internalize and learn to love the notion of risk if you want to be a serious entrepreneur.

With that said I'm going to throw my vote in favor of outsourcing. You are the entrepreneur and you have the vision, that is your key strength. One fatal mistake that many of us make is trying to become "Jacks of all Trades". It will burn you out and cause you to lose the vision (or make unnecessary accomidations for your lack of expertise in a certain subject).
