    Starting An Online CLothing Company

Hello, i want to start an online urban clothing company selling T-shirts,hoodies,Caps/Fitted Hats,Vest,Jeans And jackets. I have great ideas, and i know i can get things rolling once i have an investor. Im a young entreprenuer and i know what my audience wants. Im from NYC, and i know all the major trends and ect and i know i can incorporate this into my clothing line. These days ages 13-26 like to wear urban like t-shirts and the big thing right now are Vest and hoodies. I have great styles but not over the line designs and ideas.
The line willfocus towards the Hiphop style with also a blend skateboard style as well. Im very motivated so not only will i sell online, i will seek to get some of the apparel in small boutiques and also selling to wide range of people in my community.

ALSO, I wondering how can i get my hoodies, vest or jeans made.

Please if you have any ideas, or want to know more about it please msg me.
Investors please contact me, I rather you email me then replying to forum.

Are you talking about designing the clothing yourself and having manufacturers reproduce it according to your prototypes, or just having graphic designs printed onto existing clothing that you would order in bulk?

I could be wrong but I think that items you have printed by Cafepress have to be sold from their site.

Regarding having clothing manufactured from your designs: do a search for "contract manufactured clothing". This can be a rather expensive process, so if you plan on enlisting the help of an investor, you will at the very least need prototypes and a business plan to present to them; more likely you may need to demonstrate some level of success in selling the clothes to retail stores.

I can't help you with the business plan.

Keep in mind that investors don't care how much confidence you have in your products; they want numbers. Best of luck.

You have a lot to learn before you approach investors. Your best bet is to start saving money and doing things one at a time. Everyone and their mother wants to start a clothing line. Having an idea doesn't mean you can execute it.

Do some research before you ask questions on here. A business plan is the basis of all businesses, you should be familiar with this before you start a business.

Is all the legal work done with your company called AuRa Apparel? If not, I suggest not exposing the name until it's finalized. Big mistake.

A lot of people say going big in the fashion industry is harder than going big as a musician.

I recently started up Ergo Tedium Apparel, a resource for budding graphic designers looking to join a design oriented community and make some money.

I would be happy to give you some advice for first steps in establishing your company both conceptually and in the online marketplace. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

I own a premium streetwear boutique and I am also starting my own clothing line. My advice to you is to start with printing up graphic tees with your logo on it. I would probally use AAA tees because that's the industry norm for streetwear. If you want to have better quality, use American Apparel. Once you start getting notice, buy woven tags and start putting them in all your shirts so you'll look more like a legit clothing company and grow from there. The number one thing I can tell you is that never out grow your business. I wouldn't even bother doing a business plan until you can prove to yourself and potential investors that your products are profitable. What might be super hot to you might be hated by everyone else. Just talking a good game is not enough, you need to show numbers to prove it. Hope this helps.

Sounds like an episode of How to Make it In America. Clothing lines can be tough, have you been in business before or are just starting out??
