starting a clothing line.. NEED ADVICE FOR ESTORE

Hi. Over the past year I have created my own clothing line and am ready to create an estore to sell my abundance of product online. I have bought a domain name through godaddy but havent done anything with it yet.

I have some expereince with web design and html but in no way am I a professional. Where would be the best place for me to start online? Does anyone have any suggestions on where to host my website and a good start up package to build a website? I feel I have enough knowledge on my own to design my on website(as long as its not too complicated! And I have no expereince with shopping carts)I've read a lot of complaints on the packages that godaddy offers.

Any advice, tips, suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! I have done some research on hosting and starting my own estore but cannot come to a decision!!!

I would start with them or any one of the Top 10 Best Web Hosting Sites. I've had pretty much all of them and have had no real problems with each of them.
I personally like Bluehost for hosting because their Customer Service and Support is great.

I love godaddy because they have some great customer service as well. Godaddy has custom plans for people who are creating sites that have shopping carts and estores so I would check those out. Ebay is also a great medium for selling your clothes and you can make custom stores and then link back to them.

Hey there, try, Volusion.com , I have heard great stuff about them. If you need help marketing or would like to try other wholesale options on tshirts then let me know because I actually design, print, and sell my own tshirts as well so feel free to hit me up..

Don't spend too much time focusing on a hosting company. Godaddy will work fine for you. If you would like your company to succeed, you really need to have a professional looking site. Focusing on finding a good designer for the website. Checkout a site like 99designs.com.

I agree with yourhostingspot, the hosting isnt a big deal you just need a working one that is easy to work on (i think godaddy). but your designer is a great tool, anyone can just install a wordpress blog, but a designer can really help you stand out and put you above the other sites that just sell cafepress shirts. I would say use twitter to find a designer (thats what I did and was able to negotiate a great price) or use a site like 99designs.

You are looking to start up and E-Commerce store for your clothing line. You are looking to have a professional looking web-store because your web-store is representing your product.

I have checked out volusion and they are not bad. They do however charge allot of money to really not give you much. You can do a 30 day free trial with them and check it out for yourself. It can be daunting at times because their back-end is a little detailed.

In my opinion, If your looking for an easy set up e-commerce store that gives you a professional looking site with minimal work is bigcartel.com. They are not expensive and they take care of the hard back-end work for you. Also, if you are looking to spend a little money you can get a professional big cartel site for relatively cheap.

If you have any more questions about clothing lines and such let me know.

Godaddy has definitely become a major player, and they seem attractive now, but if your site grows and your business takes off, you'll probably find them more of a hassle than anything else. As other posters said, there are better avenues out there.

And if you're interested, I sent you a PM with ways in which I can help you with your site. Good luck!

Have you considered Bigcartel. I recently launched a store there, and I am very pleased.

In my 5 year history with GoDaddy and other web hosting providers, there will always be some type of "ick" to much things up.

I would not use a ecart solution provided by a web hosting provider ever! The reason is because they are template based, how many people have the same template. I am big on branding. You want your design to look like, well your design and your company, not five million other ones out there.

Personally as a web designer I use Oscommerce as a shopping cart, the reason for this is it runs on almost any shared hosting service, plus it is fully customizable. It does rquire getting your hands dirty in the coding, but in my opinion it's better than looking like everyone else!
