the shirt industry is very tough... I was in it for a couple years and was bought out. It's not impossible, but you need to have a reason for people to buy your shirts. If you look up "Johnny Cupcakes" on google, you'll see a person just like yoruself, starting from scratch and making it big, but he had a few things you don't yet: luck, a highly desireable product, and a meaningful website.
If you need any help, feel free to PM me. It's a tough thing to get a clothing line up and running, but Ive done it and know a lot. Hope I can help, good luck.

It is true that the apparel industry is very hard to succeed in because now there is just so many people doing it. It basically comes down to product, I run a site about the industry The Art Of Apparel*|*Building a Clothing Brand and a design/print studio working with clothing lines so if you ever need anything feel free to email me.

As per the web site, web hosting is cheaper than ever. I would pay to have my own domain and hosting. Depending on your budget and web design skills, you may want to hire a web designer. For something quick, you may instead want to consider using weebly.com for putting together a quick web site (i have never used it but have heard good things about it).

That said, online distribution of your shirts may or may not be the best bet for you. I honestly don't know, but it is something to think about. Don't contribute too much resources to designing a stellar web site if it turns out that either a) you don't want to, or b) its not advisable to sell through a web site. Its up to you, and I would try to look what other smaller/local shirt manufacturers do.

With MASaparel and dmdelectronics having experience in the industry, I would heed their advice and only pursue it if you have a great interest and/or a great idea for the industry.
