Raising capital

I wanted to post this questions and see how everyone handles this. Hopefully this will help other as well.

Ok so lets just say you have a great business idea for a website or any company. The market for it is untapped and you are ready to roll. However you do not have the capital to start.
so my question is

How do you go about getting capital for a startup while avoiding someone with the funds already from stealing your ideas and beating you to the market?

the key is not to worry about someone else. just focus on the goal of making your idea a success any way possible. competition is good for business. if someone does it better, then you have a buyer for your company with a quick exit.
