i decided to turn my "hobby" into a business for 2 reasons, i have a good amount of experience and would like to render services for other people (portraits, events, car shoots), as well as use tax benefits to cut down on the cost of equipment... some lenses break through $1500+ and lighting is also easily 400 per speedlight

I decided on a hourly rate, of say $65 for shooting and $45 for post processing/photoshop

im thinking of spreading my business via advertising to locals and local forums for the car shoots/advertising products. i also plan to run a blog to gain "free" advertising

however... i have a good foothold and will have it as a sole proprietorship for now, but LLC in the future... my reason for this is id like to (if possible) show my $1500 camera body that i purchased in feb as an expense... altho i havent yet filed for any licenses.... is this possible since its after jan1?
