    Local news site

Ok, my writing company ran into a few problems to do with my age and other factors, so now I'm getting ready to launch a local news site.
There are only two other news sites in my area, a local newspaper with a readership of over 100,000 and another site that is chock full of ads.
I want to start a simple site that will give people the news and they won't have to wade through a pile of other stuff to find it.
    Will this idea work?
I'm going to sell some ads on the site but not many.

With the right marketing, sure why not? It's not going to be easy, thats for sure, and your going to have to get some connections to be the first to break the news and find unique ways to get it to them so you can stand out, but I say go for it.

Check out The Daily Beast I like how they summarize all the news stories in a "cheat sheet" for those lazy people who don't want to read everything!
