Limited resource how can you move your business forward

If we have enough money for marketing, things are much easier. For most people thats not the case of course.

I am in such a situation with my website WebCosmo Classifieds - Post Free Classified Ads - Search Classifieds Its a classified ads site trying to compete with craigslist, gumtree etc.

I had offer from people on partnership, which I don't wanna do. So far I have spent about 6000$ on the site in last 14 months. And the result so far is not bad at all. Got a big number of members so far.

I haven't monetized the site on the first year. This year I have started earning some, only from AdSense. Not planning to charge people for postings ads at the moment; so my income from the site is very limited.

Now to take things forward what can I do with a very limited budget for marketing? Appreciate your suggestions.

Learn about Search Engine Optimization yourself.

Make sure your site is well optimized for the keywords related to your industry/website.

There are various ways to go about marketing, free or paid, just have to get a little creative.

Word of mouth, can't beat it!

Cheers.

Thanks for the advice. I have done the Search Engine Optimization; site does rank within top 5 for quite a few good keywords.

Like the word of mouth idea. Just wonder if it gonna take ages to get the word around.

If the site has enough members and traffic you may be able to sell it for a nice profit.

Great start.

Try Google Adwords as well, familiarize yourself with the system on how to optimize your keywords for the best CTR rate.

Word of mouth will work, but you're right, it takes time.
But if one person likes your product or service, they one multiplies to two then four so the growth could potentially double and triple.

Lastly of course, is forums like these.
Don't spam, but find related sites where you can post and ask people to visit.

Hope that helps!

Adwords is an obvious choice to make money. Also try making a youtube video about your company, just try little things such as this.

There is a site that operates in my area (Vancouver, BC, Canada - They cover all of BC though) which is a free classifieds site like yours. I've never used the site but I can easily remember it because of their marketing campaign. Basically, at every light that I stop at, there is a small, simple, plastic type sign (nothing expensive - probably about 12" x6") which reads:

Ebosa.com
BC's free listings

or something like that. They are simply zap-strapped onto posts all over the place.

Not sure what it would costs to get those signs but it can't be all that expensive.

Food for thought.
