    Import / Export business

I'm interested in starting up a Import / Export business part time so that I'll have a little extra money coming in on the side. Well I guess it would be more importing because I don't plan on exporting anything. I've looked into this a little but for the most part I could only find "ezarticle" type things that I didn't find too helpful.

My idea is rather cliche but I am interested in importing silver jewelry from Mexico and selling it online. A few years ago my boss, who's from Thailand, bought pearls and silk in Bangkok and sold them for 4x's what he paid. So based off that I thought I could "cut back" the cost of going on vacation if I were to bring something home to sell it. But why stop there? So I thought it would be a nice part time business that I could do every night at home.

So basically what do you all think?

    EDIT: Thanks for reading.

It's not a bad concept, but you have to be careful when you cross back over into the U.S. Customs may not like it that you're bringing large quantities of jewelry over the border with intent to sell in the U.S. As long as you declare it and show proof of purchase, they should let you through. I don't know that particulars with Mexico, so I'd check with someone that's done that in the past.

With the current environment in Mexico, I'd be careful!
