Equipment for business.

Hello,

I am setting out to start a CGi/Game development studio and I wanted to know how to go about getting equipment/financing for equipment for the artists, basically myself and some other friends... and friend's friends. It would be computer equipment for the most part, monitors, desktops, laptops, pen tablets, servers, etc. Would grants be the best way to go? I don't want to have anything on credit either, being in debted to someone never sat well with me. Also if a grant IS the best way to go, what would I need to do to get one?

Any advice @ all is welcome

Thank you,

I may be interested in this project. I am not in the position to invest or anything but I would love to talk with you about it and possibly have some sort of roll.

Well right now we are tossing around ideas figuring out whether or not we want to have one expertise, game development, to start out with, or just dive into all of them. What we KNOW we want to do is high-end CGi, game development, and software (tool) development for both. As for game development we have a barrel full of ideas that just need to be "harnessed" into something that is presentable.

That's the jist of it right now, still alot to do though.

Is this what I would have to do? Find an investor? Would that be my best route?

Thanks agian,

So let me get this straight...

You want to reap the rewards of running your own business but you DONT want to risk your own capital. Just how much do you believe in your own abilities?

We would if we had it to risk thanks. But we don't, so that is why I am asking the question. Do you have any suggestions?

That wasnt clear in your post. You stated you didnt want anything on your credit.

Assuming you have decent credit and are willing to provide a PG you can lease the equipment with very little upfront costs; generally just your first and last months payment.

I have used a company in Indiana, which is a minority-owned company, called Putnam Industries that does equipment leasing and financing of all types. They have been extremely competitive in nature and create to work with. Not sure what state you are in but check them out on the web. Great, great company.
