This seems a bit gruesome and also contrary to the purpose of a coffin. I thought that coffins were purchased to "protect" the body from infestation...if you're going to use something biodegradable, why wouldn't one just lay the body in the whole (I'm really not trying to sound trite with this). I guess I could see that in very, very poor areas it might be their only option to have a burial while showing respect to the deceased.
