Question Do you think this Biz would work?

I am 17 turning 18 in oct. I live on the outskirts of a very small town but do everything "in town" which is % minutes away from home. but there is a bank right across from our gas station out here. in this bank is also a little coffee shop/quick food place (bevande) that went out of business in there. i believe they owe that to poor management, high prices, and extreme lack of marketing. so i was wondering a friend and i would love to put a coffee/breakfast/ smoothie place in there. we are both still in highschool and it would be so easy marketing and getting the word out.also Two very main roads intersect it.Does anyone have any ideas or tips?

Do some market research.. check out the towns around you with similar demographics.. do they have successful shops like the one you want to open? If the place is located in the bank have you gone to talk to the banks manager to see what happened to the other place? Go into the bank and tell them you are working on a project for school and you would like to learn more about starting a business. They will take you more seriously that way at first.

Do your homework and you'll be able to better answer your own question.

If you do not have the answers to these questions then you DO NOT KNOW that it will work. You need to write a business plan. You can get a guide by going to Google and typing in 'how to write a business plan for free'. This will give you the needed resources to get started.

Do not approach anyone about your idea until you have a solid business plan that includes your finances, marketing, supply channels, service offerings, and management plan.
