Clothing Boutique

Hey guys, I'm thinking of starting a clothing boutique. I have close to 30K and am looking into getting 100k sba loan. Does this seem appropriate for a store that sells high end designer jeans and some high end clothing. I'd appreciate any advice in relation to clothing boutiques and what type of costs I will face. Also, advice on the challenges of starting and running a boutique will help as well.

I own a clothing boutique and it is not as easy as people think. Depending on the area that your store is going to be, I guarantee you that your going to need more that $100K to start it. I'm guessing your going to sell brands like Rock and Republic, True Religion, Seven, etc... Well, the average retail for those jeans are $150-225. Lets just use a retail price of $200 o make it easy. That means that your going to be purchasing them for half or retail which is $100. Lets say you carry 4 denim lines, 2 styles in each brand, and 10 sizes in each style. That's 80 pieces X $100= $8,000 just for jeans. That's not even including your store build-out, POS system, supplies, other inventory, etc...
Also, you have to remember that most of these denim lines are being carried in other major department stores. What's going to make your customers spend money with you when they can get it somewhere else. There are many questions that have to be answered before you pull the trigger.
