    caribbean anyone?

    Hi, I am from the Caribbean and I want to start a business, to sell products or services internationally, most likely through a website.

    What I would like to know from people here is, what would you buy from the Caribbean?

    I am still fishing around for ideas on what to provide, if someone could give me some advice, I'd appreciate it.

    commodities like coffee, rum, cigar are mostly the products.
    but since you have brought up the issue, you might as well ask yourself, what are the services, channels or products that you are good at.
    I have been living in caribbean for about tens years, and I have seem people doing well with all kinds of business and sucess other than the popular or hot business items and yet gain great success in what they are good at it;

    maybe you can start a trading network or something like that, providing a platform where people can exchange their ideas and services on the platform. Or you can do trading with people around different regions since you are thinking about doing import/export business across the different continents.

    my last advice to you is, be aware of payment terms and conditions. Cus, it might be easy to conduct a business but hard to make profit out of it simply because you have not figure it out the tax and markup issues.

    have good luck on your adventure!!

    Depending on where you are in the Caribbean, there is always a demand for discrete banking and other services. If you country is one of the ones that is known for this, you could start a small boutique-style service to help individuals from other countries establish companies, open bank accounts, etc. As long as you do everything within the confines of the law, you will be able to set up a business that will grow quickly.

    Depending on the cost, you can also start shelf corporations, and let them mature for 3-5 years. After this point, you can begin selling them for anywhere from $1500 each, all the way to $30k+. This is an alternative way to invest your money long-term to yeild some good results.

    **Note- I'm not referring to money laundering, tax evasion, or anything shifty or illegal. Legitimate businesses utilize offshore entities and bank accounts to facilitate trade and for other purposes.
