Can this per product SEO be a good idea.

I have been fighting with this possible idea...

I would like to tap into a multi million dollar niche market.

There is no realistic way that I will be able to compete with the so many players out there but I would like to try and have my share...

My "technique" would be to try and create a good enough SEO website for specific products instead of creating a general e-commerce website and try to sell products for this niche market.

Example. Let say it is the Pet Dog market. Instead of doing a complete e commerce website to try and sell dog related items , maybe I can create multiple website for brand, product specific items and try to make sales that way.

With the help of the complete domain and some basic SEO I might just be able to be found for that particular item better than trying to do my whole website product line.

If this particular product is looked for, searched for 20,000 times a month I would just need to convert a small percentage of that in sales X multiple websites like this.... I could have some potential sales.....

possible? totally wrong? dreaming? wrong direction? on to something? what do you think?

Hello,

I think it would be more work than the payoff. When creating a site you DEFINITELY want to stay in a nitch. I cannot stand seeing websites that try to do 15 things at one time. Why not create multiple sites. Right now I have 2 more sites in development that offer completely different things than my current site. I think taking it too far would do more damage than good.

For example maybe having a dog store, cat store and skunk :-) store would be great as opposed to having one large pet store.

However, a dog leash store would be a mistake (in my opinion)

Hope this helps,
Evan
