13K is definitely possible. Go to your local bank and use it as collateral to get 15k more.

Reseach....Create a plan. And use the 15K for when times get rough. Your 1st year will be the toughest and you'll be glad you have the extra funds.

    Thats my 2 cents!

if u use the 13k as collateral for 15k, you will not be able to use the initial 13k

$8-10k is definitely cutting it close. The idea is simple and a good one and could work, but with MUCH more planning. Planning/stratetgizing and documentation are key!

The coffeeshop business is such a risky and highly competative market, I thought about doing it once however, places like Starbucks, Costa are so competative and their costs for produce is so low, that a small start up could never compete. The example I use is in a book called the Undercover Economist by Tim Harford. Always worth a read

Do not let others discourage you. With some creativity - 8K could be enough. Buy a donut machine on ebay or a consumer machine rather than commercial. Get suppliers to give you terms. Offer a percentage of revenues instead of rent to the landlord for a start. Work your butt off. You can do it.

it seem that there is no much planning or research done prior to opening the café..

Instead of jumping in just because you had got sufficient funds, I figure it will be best to use some of your resources to plan & research first..
