First of all, I've never been a fan of the sport. It just never appealed to me.

But lately after doing my own research and watching several documentaries, it is apparent that this is a sport that will be around for a while. There has always been a market for combat sports and I think MMA is finally serving it in the proper way. Yes, there was a time where boxing was the hottest ticket in town, same with pro wrestling. But they are different than how the UFC has run their business.

We're talking about a company that was losing a ton of money in 2001, but Dana White has turned it into a money machine. They've been featured in Forbes magazine, CNBC has done a documentary on them. This is not a local Las Vegas thing either, pay per view buys are incredible and believe it or not there are women fans...

With all this in mind, this is a sport that can develop a global audience. Combat sports have always been big worldwide. MMA still has legal battles to fight in order to hold events in every state/province. But great strides have been made since the UFC's inception in 1993.

There are plenty of ways to get involved. There are already some companies that are taking advantage of this sport (Tapout is one of them). I never realized the potential until I became knowledgeable on the sport.
