Word of advice to all wannabe tech jerks, entrepreneurs and nerds.
Never sell your soul or ideal. You never know who is out there lurking for concepts and Idea's on these sites. All it will take is a little difference and the ball will fly with the other person in court. So when you post ideas and even consider most of the junk people offer you on theses sites, never sell yourself sort, post it or talking about it. Get advice and run with it. You can get an American salary of than $100,000 and have your ideal stolen. So my advice is give up nothing for nothing. Just because it says myspace, youtube and their owners get the credit for don't mean their the ones who had the original Idea. (You guys get the just of this statement) Even when you go to seek out freelancers watch out. My word of advice to you guys is if you have an ideal program, design, and keep it to yourself. You will feel much better off if you fail or succeed with your own idea. With the Internet it takes second to find out how to start, market and connect with low paid workers of india. There is no need to fund a project that does not take that much to start. It is the high paid american workforce that drives the prices of formation up. Remember the only ones profiting will be the rich businessman(partner) that is in your pocket not you.
A business major at a tech university looking out for his tech friends.

Welcome to YE! An odd post in an odd place, but it's good advice nonetheless!

you are wrong, and it's surprising how you can expect yourself to be right without any experience
go and try following your own advice, see how far that'll get ya
nobody likes paranoid dreamers
that's what an apt description for a person who think that their ideas will get stolen (or that it matters) and that their ideas can actually grow into something valuable, with no supporting other than a hunch
that's just not how entrepreneurship works, for a lot of reasons

akula, how do you know the poster has no experience? Not trying to stir up anything, but I think that's a faulty assumption to make on just this one post.

anyone who has started a business from scratch and acheived success - is not paranoid
people who can make things happen -have their own ideas - its not necessary to steal someone elses.
Usually the people with the "next big thing" have no clue how business or that particular industry works, and people in the biz will laugh at the idea because it would not be FEASIBLE or PROFITABLE.
No one will have the passion for your idea like you do...thats the beauty of being an originator
Will their be competitors? sure -but how many great ideas were stolen? very few
How many were completely original? Very few
everybody builds based of experiences of life...myspace was not the first -- neither was google --they just did it the best.
Don't worry about people stealing your idea. Figure out how to EXECUTE IT!
If you are sitting on an idea, and doing nothing with it -- honestly -- it SHOULD be stolen, because you are not willing to make it happen.
let someone who is willing to do what it takes profit from it, while you sit in the corner "thinking"
Entrepreneurs are DO-ers.

again, not bashing
the man posted a thread with some points of advice
for a rounded discussion, it's important that somebody proposes that he is wrong
the hope (fingers crossed) is that he'll come back and defend his original postion, which weill make for a great thread
dude, please, stop the mother theresa bullshit
you are trying to protect certain values, at the expense of greater community benefit
it's good for the community if people are confrontational
otherwise, the quality of posts declines

again, a kick ass post
the points you've made are so empirically correct and universally accepted, that it boggles the mind why Imperial21 would say what he said

The OP is showing the worth of the degree he is studying.
University trains you to work for someone else. Not to start a business.
