I am just curious .. I got alot to speak about on this subject but seems most of this board hates the idea of Network Marketing and MLM.
So I want to raise a discussion on MLM.
Good or bad, everyone give me your thoughts and opinions on it.

People don't like MLM because it isn't a real goddamned business.
At it's best, a legitimate MLM turns you into a salesman, not an entrepreneur. At it's worst, it's a pyramid scheme.
It doesn't help that MANY of the MLM's out there are wholly illegitimate, but even the honest ones still shouldn't be what a real entrepreneur wants to hear about. Running a business and being a salesman aren't the same thing. If I wanted to have "limitless potential for profit!!!OMG" and NOT really run my own show, I'd just be a goddamned financial advisor or something. It's for people of limited vision.
I also can't stand marketing people, honestly. If I can make money without having to convince people of things they wouldn't otherwise accept without me, everyone else can too. Vultures.

I think the constant spam on the net trying to sign people up was what got me disliking it so much. That, and it is nothing entrepreneurial.Originally Posted by WanganRunner

its a scam
I'm not a salesman nor do I want to be. I'm a people manager. I want to run a business off of a single or multiple ideas and have people work for me.

it works like this...if you were really cut out for startups, you would've started something without needing this mlm rubbish. but you're not - you're just an ordinary person, you're not trained in business, or have the personality for being a businessman. nothing wrong with that. if the situation was different, you would have went to business school.
so, this set of circumstances will lead you to failure and disappointment, and then you'll have your answer for why people hate mlm. these are schemes that prey on people, like my mom, who should never even come within 10 meters of seeing a balance sheet.

It's almost like those chains that you send $1 to 6 people and in the end you make $98239482398 or something like that. MLMs also completely neglect their product and concentrate on their chain of people (that's how they make more money, more people involved).
Like prepaid legal. They're more concerned with getting more salesmen (who pay like $150 to join) instead of selling their legal insurance. They're making more money on their own people than their damned product... How stupid is that?

I don't believe in MLM. I think only the top level people and starter really earn money. They sell marketing plan and not products.
I have always been against Mlm, but i have to say i have been introduced to one which i do for fun. I am not serious about it, but it is UK based, legitimate and i earn a small income from it and it is easy money. My earnings fund my other projects and while ever it pays i will continue.
i dislike the idea of MLM, only people getting rich are the guys at the top!
Tho there is one business i have taken a liking to and thats www.agel.com there products are really good and will be a really big seller.
I am thinking of signing up just to get wholesale access to there products and set up a proper business in my country selling the product.
Maybe that isnt very entrepreneur or w/e but it will make money from a small investment.
They just want you to hire people to join there company
the people you hire pay $1000 for the best package, you get $200 of that, plus $5 for every box of the products they buy.
Thats lame, "yeah i will find you a person wanting to pay you $1000 and only take $200 of it"
Fuck that, but if you was just selling there product you could make up to £50 per box profit if you put your mind to it and thats what i intend to do.

MLM's can be very successful, some of them just have a bad rap, well In my opinion to be successful at any network marketing project it's all going to revolve around the product. The product should be targeted to a wide demographic area not just people who need to loose weight etc., the product must be an easy sell 30 seconds is all it should take, next the product must have some type of background, and last if you jump into an MLM are you going to have support from your company and your upline not to mention you must be willing to help out and support your downline.

Alright .. good posts .. and its exactly what I thought everyone would say.
Just pure hate .. no facts .. no examples .. no testimonials about how you didnt make it ..
So ... Im going to ask again .. Why is MLM so hated?
Dont say spam .. dont say scam .. dont say people at the top ..
I want facts .. truths ..
Because believe it or not .. EVERYTHING in this world is network marketing and you just dont realize it
I gave an honest opinion!Originally Posted by agelforums
