All these posts were posted a few months ago. A few months pass by and someone all of sudden decides to post again in attempt to get a few prospects.

You can't just post where ever you like hoping someone is going to respond to someone they don't know. IT's like me opening my mail and answering to all the different spam about me winning lottoeries and inhereting money from people who I have never seen, spoken, or heard of. I sorry I don't mean to be rude or anything, but your approach is weak and won't get you anywhere.

    Not so bad

First off pyramid schemes are different from MLMs. Most MLMs (network marketing) do not work because like everyone has pointed out it takes a lot of sales. However, my friends mom makes a pretty good living for a MLM company. Also, many Legitimate companies like Herbalife (multi billion dollar drug manufacturing company) started using and continue to use MLM (word of mouth) as their main source of advertising. Granted most MLMs are either scams or are not what they are promised, their are some out their that are legit. It is up to you to realize that it is not a get rich quick (which nothing is), it does take some work/sales.

Unless you invent or create a certain product or niche that everyone needs and becomes instantly popular you are not going to get rich quick. Even so you still need to invest capital. It is disgusting that many people are searching and spamming ways to get rich quick, that does not happen to anyone. Generating wealth and part of being an entrepeneur takes hard work and a passion.

To easily distinguish between a pyramid scheme and MLM look to see if there is a product being distributed and sold. IF there is no product being sold and revenue is just based on some one buying in you obviously have a pyramid scheme, pretty obvious. But to distinguish between a good MLM and a illegitimate or bad MLM is a lot harder. First off the companies track record is important. Have they been around for a long time (over 5 years) or they a new company? Another good sign of a bad MLM is one that promises you to make $300,000 your first year. My friends mom does make $300k per year, but she has also been doing it for 16 years. It is not a get rich quick, she put in her dues and they are starting to pay off. There are people in her company, she will admit, that do make as much as her their first couple years, but she says that they are the elite sales people of the world which most of us are not and do not want to be. Also, 16 years ago the Nutrition industry is not nearly what it is now or what it will be in the future.

Remember if it seems too good to be true it probably is -

With that said, I work at a corporate job with 40hr plus weeks, but also do a MLM on the side because I enjoy making extra cash. Not to say I am making $100,000 by working only a few hours a week. My goal is to make just enough to give me a 6 digit salary over all and then maybe go full time later. I just network with people I meet, my friends and family. The product I sell, sells itself because it is good for you and most people take it or should take it everyday anyways. All I have to do is convince them to switch which is easy because it is good for them.

    ABOUT MLMs

I've never liked selling. In fact, I've always hated sales and disliked sales people. I've tried a few MLMs (Cyberwize was the latest) and was not successful at it at all. But someone introduced me to YTB (Your Travel Biz) and for some reason it is the exception to the rule. I love it. It doesn't feel like sales, mainly because it sells itself and people are going to travel with or without you. It's easy to talk about. The company has a lot of integrity, etc. So... though I wouldn't necessarily endorse all MLMs, I do realize that (1)network marketing as a concept makes sense from the standpoint of not paying for expensive advertising and instead compensating people for word-of-mouth advertising (2) being a means of attaining financial wealth especially if the product or service is good and legitimate.

It is hated because people don't get the results they expected in the begining. They don't understand what they really have to do and quit. They probably don't like to deal with people.

You know I think it is in the USA where MLM is hated the most. In other countires like India it's growing like wildfire.

I think you're right. People are looking for quick fixes and easy answers. An MLM requires work (like just about anything worthwhile). But also, for some reason, some people have a problem with leverage (benefiting from the efforts of others as well as your own efforts.) That one escapes me because as long as the playing field is equal and all have the same opportunities, I don't see what the problem is. I'm a firm believer in leverage.

Its funny how alot of Pro MLM people always end their post with

"So yeh, if you want to talk more, send me an email at someloser@hotmail.com"

or "Let me show you the road to wealth, send me an email at anotherloser@hotmail.com"

Best part is, all scam or spam posts follow the same trend. I'll list them here

    1) They join up without knowing what the forum is really about
    2) they copy and paste a ready made post (probably given to them)
    3) the post would be MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE, so big that no one really reads them
    4) at the end of their post, they will always have either a website URL, or their email address, or the combination
    5) Their topic will usually include "Make Millions" "no work" "little work" "passive income" "free" "let me show you" and stuff like that
    6) they will almost never reply your questions
    7) if they do reply, it will be a massive reply defending their right to post, as well as another attempt to direct you to a website URL, or send them an email
    8) their email will ALWAYS be a free email address (hotmail, yahoo, aol etc)
    9) They will post multiple times in multiple forums in fear that one of their posts will get deleted
    10) They will revive extremely old threads because they most likely found them on Google
    11) they will post a vaguely relatedly reply to the old thread and once again direct you to either a URL or their email address

You know the best MLM would have food as their product. Have restaurants all over the place. I go to eat there and I get a % back of my bill. I sponsor a few who do the same and I get another % of their bill and so on. How cool.

Yea right like that would ever work.

Just something I thought up because Thanksgiving is on its way and Food has been stuck in my mind for the past week.

Here's my take on MLM. I know someone who is an intregal partner in a major MLM program - and he's a serious piece of work. His "pyramid scheme" days may be behind them, and he's as rich as celebs on MTV.. but he's ethically and morally disturbed.

I think MLM is so hated because they are pitched like a broken record, get rich quick, when in reality it is only those at the top who truely get rich while those in the middle make just enough to chug along and those at the bottom (the majority) are had.

Not to mention their shameful business tactics, lies, and "factual" fiction.
